How to Repair Leather Cuts, Rips, and Tears in 6 Easy Steps
Step 1: TRIM
Trim any curling edges or jagged bits. Otherwise, it will stay bumpy after being repaired.
Step 2: CUT OUT
Cut out a piece of backing fabric with rounded edges and larger than the rip or tear.
Step 3: INSERT
Insert the backing fabric into the tear and under the torn backing using your fingers or with the help of the spatula.
Step 4: SECURE
Make sure that the backing fabric is flat in position. Otherwise, it will cause a bumpy or bulky repair.
Step 5: APPLY
After mixing, apply under and along the edges to ensure that the backing fabric is well glued. Then, fill the compound directly into the tear.
STEP 6: BUFF
Allow the compound to dry for several hours. Then, use a cotton pad or a cotton swab with 90% rubbing alcohol to buff the edges.
