How to Repair Leather Burns and Holes in 7 Easy Steps

Step 1: TRIM

Trim any jagged bits or burn marks with scissors or a knife.

Step 2: CLEAN

Thoroughly clean the area with a cotton swab or a cotton pad and rubbing alcohol.

Step 3: INSERT BACKING

Cut out a piece of backing fabric with rounded edges and larger than the hole. Insert it into the hole with the help of the spatula.

Step 4: MIX

Use the Color Mixing Guide to find the main and secondary colors to match your leather. Mix the colors of repair compound in the mixing jar.

Step 5: APPLY

After mixing, apply under and along the edges to ensure that the backing fabric is well glued. Then, fill the compound directly into the hole.

STEP 6: BUFF

Allow the compound to dry for several hours. Then, use a cotton pad or a cotton swab with 90% rubbing alcohol to buff the edges.

Step 7: ADD TEXTURE

To add texture to your repair finish, press a plastic wrap against the semi-dry second layer of soft filler. Repeat this process as needed.
